Kunstschaffende wie Ernst Ludwig Kirchner und Erich Heckel suchten nach existenzieller Wahrheit in expressiven Formen, w\u00e4hrend Christian Schad oder Otto Dix ihre Mitmenschen mit scharfer N\u00fcchternheit portr\u00e4tierten. Zwischen subjektivem Ausdruck und pr\u00e4ziser Analyse entstand ein vielf\u00e4ltiges Spektrum an Bildnissen, das innere Spannungen wie gesellschaftliche Umbr\u00fcche sichtbar macht.
